Old Wiring – Needs Upgrading
Service Changes
Before technology became what it is today, homes ran about 60 amps of electricity. However in recent decades, there have been huge increases in the amount of electricity used in our homes. As the use of technology grows, so does the need for more power in order to run things like heating and air conditioning units, flat screen TVs, and new hi-tech appliances. As a result, today’s households can require up to 200 amps of electricity in order to handle the everyday usage of electricity.
There can be signs that a system might need to be upgraded like a electric panel upgrade. They can include things like blowing fuses, corrosion from moisture damage, and outdated technology around the home. The service panel often needs to be upgraded in older homes to increase the amount of electricity flowing through it. This needs to happen before a new wiring project can be added.
Call CBS Electric for the service changes or upgrades you may be looking for. Our qualified and licensed electricians will make sure that the job is done properly, safely, and meets the requirements of electrical and building codes.

Dedicated Breakers for Appliances
When an appliance is connected to a dedicated electrical circuit, it doesn’t share the circuit and circuit breaker with any other appliance in your home. It comes with its own breaker in the electrical panel as well.
Kitchens have appliances that use a lot of power to generate heat, such as ovens, electrical grills, and toasters. Some of them have built-in motors, like dishwashers, garbage disposals, and mixers. These two types of appliances use the most energy in your home.
Modern kitchens on the other hand, are set up to power as many electrical appliances as possible, usually with between 4 and 7 20-amp circuits. Having multiple circuits will decrease the risk of overloading any one circuit, especially when major appliances are connected to their own dedicated circuits.
Here are some examples of appliances that need a dedicated breaker:
